What are the SAT Subject Tests and Should My Child Take Them?

Parents often ask whether their children should take SAT Subject Tests.  These tests are NOT the same as the well-known "SAT" exam specifically used for college admissions.  Instead, these shorter tests are subject-specific and test a student's mastery of that particular subject area.  Some colleges require SAT subject scores as part of the college application (always check with individual colleges to confirm what each requires). And, even if not required by a college, students with strong scores often include them in their college applications to attempt to "stand out" from other similarly-situated applicants. Regents Review offers one-day review classes with excellent teachers to help organize the material and prepare students for these exams. More information and a full schedule of review classes can be found here.
